No more sunscreen on Labor Day

Well Nixon has had a hard last few days.

It started with last week. We went to the splash pad. I put some sunscreen on Nix. We played at the pool for an hour and a half. Ate some lunch and went home.

I noticed his cheeks red, really red and irritated. And he kept trying to scratch his cheeks.  I thought Oh no I must not have put enough sunscreen on him.?

But I remembered putting Sunscreen on him, not a lot but enough and we weren't even in the sun that long.

A few days passed, his cheeks got better and he was happy again.

Then Labor Day came.
We wanted to go to the beach but I was worried, worried about Nixon.
I wasn't sure if it was the Sunscreen that made his cheeks do that, or the sun.
Either way I didn't want to take chances.

Well we did take a chance, ugh.. why?

We went to the Beach, we had so much fun. We all missed the beach and loved being together as a family

I put sunscreen on nixon, and we re~ applied. I wanted to make sure he didn't get "burnt" this time.
Big Mistake!

He didn't flare up until we got home.

Oh boy did he look bad! As the night went on it got worse and worse.
The poor baby couldn't sleep that night.
All he wanted to do was scratch scratch and scratch some more. So much his cheeks started bleeding.

It was so hard to see him that way.
The next morning he was swollen
I called the Dr and got him in that morning.

She said it looked bad. She felt so bad for him.
And I cried and cried. Man I hate crying to people. I feel so bla!
I just felt so stupid, why did I take him to the beach!? I knew I shouldn't have.

 At the Dr.

Nixon got put on a steroid cream, it took a couple of days for the swelling to go down.

This picture above is what Nixon looked like at his worse, and the other picture is what he normally looks like.
This is what Nixon looks like today. So much better!! Now his skin is peeling and flaking. The Dr said his rash was a eczema based rash. His skin seriously felt like sand paper. I'm just so happy that he is feeling and looking better. I'm also so happy we know what it was, well I guess we are not 100% sure it was the sunscreen but pretty darn sure.

I bought him some burt bee's all natural sunscreen that we are going to try
I will test a little on his skin before we spend time in the sun.
I hope he never reacts like that again. So heart breaking.

So sad! I am so glad that he is getting better. Poor little NIx! It's crazy because you've always put sunscreen on him here in CA, right? Maybe its just the Boston sun and a sign that you should come back to CA... :)
It's looks like you guys are having so much fun there! Love the pics.
Miss you guys!
