Friends are Family

So grateful for the friends I have made in my life.
It really can be difficult moving a lot and living around no family.
But when you make those connections with people that
you know you can turn to for most anything and trust, it's the best!

Here are just some of the few I have made in my short adult life.
Happy Graduation Matt!

San Francisco you have my heart!

A few weeks ago San Francisco was having a heatwave.
It's always fun to spend a day in the city when it's warm because it doesn't happen often enough.
We went to Twin Peaks and checked out the amazing view of the city.

The kids love Dolores Park. So we went there after.
The play structure is awesome and unique.
With big slides, bridges, rock walls and more.
I'm pretty sure everyone in the city was at this park that day.

We met up with our good friends the Toblers
So fun to see them and their cute baby Jane.
My boys loved making her laugh and listening to her
obsession with Frozen screaming Anna Anna.

I'm Back and it's my Birthday

Wow it has been too long since I have blogged.
I have really been missing it. I miss looking back on things I have written
in detail about my life with my boys.

About 8 months ago my laptop broke and lets face it blogging on a phone or iPad is just not going to happen. Lucky for me I have an amazingly sweet husband who bought me a new iMac so I could continue blogging (and other things)

I really don't want to do much back peddleing but I'm sure I'll do a little bit.
Right now I'm going to write about my Birthday.

I found out like a week before that Daniel was going to be gone the week before and week of my Birthday. I was pretty bummed about this.  The day of my Birthday came. Daniel was in Chicago and I woke up that morning thinking I'm not going sit home and wish that I was doing something more fun for my Birthday.

My boys and I woke up that morning made our favorite breakfast of crepes with strawberries and powdered sugar got dressed and out we went. We drove through Half Moon Bay and made our way down the beautiful 1 highway. Making our destination Santa Cruz Beach boardwalk.

It was a nice day of 70 degrees with a light breeze. The boys and I went on a few carnival rides and they loved it. Then we rode the skyline checking out all the beautiful fun scenery. After we got some lunch on the boardwalk that was pretty awful tasting but hey can't always have everything go your way even if it is your Birthday. We didn't let it get us down though. Then we made our way to the Pier and got some ice-cream then put our blanket down on the warm sand, played with sand toys and enjoyed the day.

On the drive home we stopped at one of our favorite Pho places in our old stomping grounds then went downtown Palo Alto and picked up some French Macaroons  went home put the kids to bed from our busy day plopped on the couch and watched the Bachelorette with two of my favorite friends Jane and Hiedi. I'd say it was a pretty amazing day!

Later in the week all of my best girl friends from down in Palo Alto area and Burlingame area went and got massages and went to dinner at the cutest pizzaria.

On Friday of that week Daniel finally got home and that night took me to the One Republic concert. It was a pretty amazing Birthday week and I felt special.

Nixon turned 2 / potty training

Where does the time go?

It's been a month since nix turned 2, he is seriously the smartest boy.

Some things I want to write down about him and remember are:

I took his crib down like completely apart. He never slept in it, he always just slept with Brighton so now they sleep together every night. It's pretty cute and they love the extra space in their room.

He's still my little talker. Sometimes when I talk with him I feel like I'm talking to a 4 year old not a 2 year old.

He has a great memory. He remembers everyone's names. Even if he just net you once.

About a month ago Daniels brother JJ stayed the night at our house for work. He got there late and left early. The boys only overlapped with him maybe an hour. I remember this cause I offered him a water and he showed me his tall plastic Smart water bottle saying no thanks I have one. So last week Daniel went to a meeting and brought back a smart water and put it in the fridge. nix opened the fridge and saw it and said mom did jj leave his water bottle here ? how did he remember  that?? Blew me away.

He says the funniest things all the time but for some reason I'm drawing a blank. Probably cause its late. I'll have to come back later and insert some things.

I also potty trained him last week. I was expecting it to go a lot how Brighton's went but it has been the complete opposite. The first day he peed on my floor 13 times with out any real success. I called my. Bf Betsy and said I was throwing in the towel. She told me I couldn't give up that I needed to give it at least 1 full day. Sooooo glad I listened to her. He woke up from his nap and did better. Had some success and some accidents. The 2nd day he had 1 accident the whole day and even started to tell me when he needed to go. 3rd day no accidents and started just going completely on his own. He is also great at holding it. I'm just amazed by him!

For his birthday we decided to take him to Disneyland it was so much fun he loved it so much and talked about it all the time. Begs me to go back a few times a week. It was also nice to get some much needed time with Daniel.

Nix loves his daddy and gets so sad when he goes to work and then tells me all throughout the day. "I just miss my daddy all day long"

He's a pretty good eater and is always willing to try new things. His fav foods are pizza, and green naked juice.

Love my little nix so much! He's just the best!

My iPad is not letting me post pics. I'll try a bit later.

Brighton Turned 4

A part of me is thinking ya I have a four year old.
Then another part of me is thinking,
I HAVE A FOUR YR OLD!!!!!

But seriously I couldn't have asked for a better kid.
Ya he has a TON of energy but I wouldn't have it any other way!
Brighton is so fun to be around.
He is funny and very aware of other people around him
and their feelings.

He has been doing so great at sharing with other kids and his brother.
He started watching a show called Daniel's Tiger Neighborhood.
There was an episode that was all about sharing and
how if we share you can get it back when they are done.
It's like it clicked in his head that it's still his.
It's been great.

He is on a Grilled cheese with ketchup kick.
he probably eats one a day.
sick i know.
He also loves green smoothies and i load them up with baby kale i buy at costco
it's great he will usually drink 3 sippy cups full in a day.

He is still really into trucks and trains and anything like that.
He wanted a Monster Truck Birthday so we kind of themed it that and had it at the local
Jungle gym it was great and easy!

He also learned to ride a bike just before his 4th b-day.
he is so good at it and I'm so proud!
He's the best!!

A Wedding and Disneyland

A few weeks ago Daniel and I went down to Southern California for a friends sealing.

I was so happy my friend Brittany invited us. Daniel and I decided to make a mini trip out of it and take the kids to Disneyland also. Well those plans didn't last. (work) We drove down late Friday night and we went to the sealing on Saturday. My sister Linda was awesome enough to watch my boys for me all day.

The next day Daniel and I took the boys to Sea World. They loved it! They loved watching all the shows and seeing the animals.

Monday morning Daniel flew back to SF for work.

The boys and I decided to be a little a lot brave and go to Disneyland just the three of us.

The first day was a lot of fun and it was really hot!! I think it was like 100 degrees. We met up with our friends for most of the day and had a great time.

It was actually easier than I thought it would be and I think it's because i wasn't expecting anyone else to help me out. It was all on me. I set up some expectations for Brighton and he did great!

I would totally do it again.

I wasn't sure if I was going to go back on Tuesday but I really wanted to take the boys to Cars land.

Tuesday came and we were out the door and ready to go to DL by noon. I decided to stop and grab the boys some lunch before heading into the park.

We went through Mc Donald's drive through and got a hamburger. As we are sitting in the car in the parking lot Brighton says to me "watch this BIG bite mom" he then takes a big bite. I told him he better chew it real good. Well he then starts gagging on his big bite. I just knew he was going to throw up. sure enough it all came out over and over and over. All of him and his car seat.

I felt like I was in a dream for a split second.

I took him out of the car. Stripped him down threw his clothes away drove over to target and put the car seat in the dumpster went and picked up a new seat and some new clothes.

Then back to DL we went.

We had a fun day and were busy all day.

Wednesday we woke up had breakfast and made our way back to SF. As I stopped for some gas I finished up and then I closed the passenger side door. I went to get in the drivers side door. Locked. tried to open the back door. Locked. Every door was locked with everything I owned inside of it. My keys, phone, kids. I went into a bit of a panic and ran inside the gas station and told them to call 911.

Well it was a hot day and with both my boys locked in the car, a firetruck came roaring down the road.
To say the least I was a bit embarrassed. But in a matter of 20 min or so they got the car unlocked. followed by it locking suddenly again!

I wasn't sure how it got locked in the first place. Both boys were locked in their seats. Brighton couldn't get out or reach the lock.

One of the fire fighters looked through the window and saw Nixon locking the door with his little toes! Such a little stinker. They got the doors opened once again and all was well again. Now I always make sure a window is cracked or a door open before I do anything with the boys still in the car.
